A Little Story About Brake Away Trailers …
Jesse has been in business since 1991. He started with small engine repair in a small garage while working fulltime for a farmer after high school. He entered a partnership in 1994 where he continued the repair business. The Partnership dissolved in 1997. He then moved his operation where he expanded to include auto, truck repairs and diesel specialty work.
Theresa went to college after high school spending 2-1/2 years at MSU and later transferring to Mankato Technical College. Graduated from Mankato Technical College in 1990 with an accounting degree, Followed by an internship with Kitchenmaster Accounting during the 1990 tax season, was then hired by Crysteel Truck Equipment Inc in 1991 as the Human Resource Manager/Payroll and Safety Director. In 1999 she got her Insurance license and began a 10 year career with AFLAC as an independent sales agent. In 2007 began focusing much of her energy and time learning the Property Preservation (Foreclosure) Industry and chose to pursue this business opportunity.
In 2008, Whirlwind Services LLC was found. During its operation of six years, Theresa found the industries profitability diminished, which brought her to Brake Away Trailers and Auto Care LLC in 2013. Working alongside Jesse, she learned to do oil changes, dismounts, mounts, balances, and repairing tires.
Now their new building has four double sized repair bays with hoists. It includes a customer waiting area, a parts display area, an office, a customer check-out counter, bathroom and employee break room, and 5-acre trailer display lot. Highly visible, Brake Away’s location is ¼ mile west of the US Hwy 14 and US Hwy 71 intersection.
How we became a Big Tex Dealer…
It all began a couple of years ago. Jesse had purchased a Big Tex 22’ tilt bed trailer for their farm. He chose it because of its superior construction over all other brands. One year later, continuing the high quality on their farm, Theresa purchased a Big Tex 22’ tilt trailer for her business and fell in love with it! Months after that purchase, Theresa found herself itching for a Big Tex 16’ dump trailer, also for her business, but could not find one locally.
So she made a phone call.
While on the phone with Big Tex Trailers, not only did they find Theresa a trailer through their dealership network in Hampton, IA, but they also expressed interest in expanding their dealer network further into the Midwest. And like the ole’ saying goes, the rest is history for Jesse and Theresa. Brake Away Trailers and Auto Care became a Big Tex Trailer Dealer.
